So What's This Game?

This is a game about a place. A spooky place. You know the one—The old, rickety cabin atop the hill. The abandoned manor haunted by the former owners. The deserted hospital. No matter what it is, it’s plagued by rumours. Rumours which have gotten you (and your other dumb friends) hooked.

The Spooky Place is a small, one-shot Game-Master-less tabletop roleplaying game about you and your friends getting way out of your depth as you attempt to get to the bottom of a mysterious location. To play, you’ll need a deck of cards, separated by suit and many, many, six-sided dice. And, oh! While you can play this game alone, I’m sure a couple friends will make it more fun.

Some Mechanics, If You're A Nerd:

The game uses a D6 dice-pool system. It will encourage you to lean into cheesy horror tropes in order to gather the dice to progress.

Progression takes place via a series of trials, set out using a table-based playing card structure.

The GM-less aspect will be managed by an RPG mechanic called 'framing', where players will take turns adding layers of detail to collaboratively flesh out a scene.
